Q1. What is a Dutch cargo bike (Bakfiets)?
A Dutch cargo bike features a sturdy wooden box in the front equipped with bench seating and safety harnesses
for children. Positioning passengers in front gives you a clear, unobstructed view of your kids while riding and
makes it easy to chat along the way.
Q2. Is the cargo bike electric-assist?
Yes! Our Dutch cargo bike comes equipped with an electric-assist motor. This makes navigating Mount Pleasant’s
inclines and hauling extra cargo or kids smooth, comfortable, and effortless.for children. Positioning passengers in front gives you a clear, unobstructed view of your kids while riding and
makes it easy to chat along the way.
Q3. What is included with my rental?
Every rental includes:
- Helmets for all adult riders and child passengers.
- Heavy-duty bike lock for securing the bike when exploring stops along your route.
- Full orientation on e-assist controls and front-box steering techniques.
Q4. Where is pickup and drop-off located?
All rentals are picked up and returned to our shop at 28 East 19th Ave, Vancouver, BC (just off Main Street). We
are directly situated along designated bike paths with quick access to the Arbutus Greenway, Mount Pleasant
greenways, and the False Creek Seawall.
Q5. How many children can ride in the front box?
The front box comfortably seats up to 2 small children (or 1 older child) and comes fitted with built-in safety
harnesses.
Q6. Is riding a front-box cargo bike difficult?
Front-box steering feels slightly different than a standard bicycle for the first minute or two. We provide a
complimentary 2-minute test loop on quiet East 19th Ave so you feel 100% confident before taking off.
